Hon. Alexander Kwasi Acquah, MP for Akim Oda and former Deputy Health Minister has stated that Ghana is currently being run on the ideas and policies of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vce President.

He claims that since taking office, the Mahama administration has not launched any new projects and is instead depending on policies that were developed and carried out during the previous administration under Dr. Bawumia's direction.

Hon. Acquah who was speaking exclusively to Pure TV Online referenced the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme, which was launched by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and is spearheaded by Dr. Bawumia. He stated that the program, combined with the Gold-for-Oil initiative, altered the character of Ghana's economy by lowering the country's reliance on foreign buyers of gold and oil.

He emphasized, "We used to sell the gold to foreigners and buy from them, so the country's economy would have been poor if he hadn't brought these ideas."

The current government, according to the Akim Oda MP, has only rebranded the Gold-for-Oil initiative as "Goldbod" and presented it as an innovative concept.

He observed that the country would have undergone unprecedented development if Ghanaians had kept the NPP in office, especially in dealing with the threat of illicit mining, otherwise known as galamsey.

“Can you imagine if Dr Mahamudu Bawumia were to be president? The country would have improved better than we see today,” said Hon. Acquah.

He also gave Dr. Bawumia credit for a number of innovations that continue to support Ghana's governance system, such as the Zipline drone delivery program for medical supplies, digitalization, mobile money interoperability, and e-gates at Kotoka International Airport.

Hon. Acquah emphasized Dr. Bawumia is still the driving force behind Ghana's most significant recent reforms, saying, "These ideas from him are what are being used to run the country currently."
