Malaysia in Support of Ghana's bid to be Africa leader in Palm Oil Production.

Ghana and Malaysia began a collaboration which led with a visit from Malaysia to
Ghana with a delegation from the Malaysia's Oil Palm Production Council in June 2024, calling for Ghana to join a network that could help Ghana to be leader in African palm oil production in the continent.

Malaysia Palm Oil Production ( MPOA) has pledge to give a helping hand to Ghana's ambition in becoming Africa's apex palm oil producer.

At a stakeholders engagement organised by the Malaysian High Commission in Ghana which took place at the Marriott Hotel in Accra, representatives from the two countries discussed strategic partnerships, technological advancement, and industry challenges, which aims to boost Ghana's palm oil sector to the forefront of the African market.

The stakeholders engagement brought together Ghanaian and Malaysian palm oil producers to explore new approaches for growth and sustainability in the palm oil production sector.

Malaysia, which shares a similar post - independence economic history with Ghana, has become a global leader in the palm oil production, while Ghana continues to tackle economic challenges.

In an interview with the media, the Deputy Malaysian High Commissioner to Ghana, Syed Nauzer Idid, said the importance of sustainable practices and certification programs such as the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil ( MSPO) and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm (RSPO). These programs , he noted address global sustainability concerns and could help Ghana enhance its competitive edge in both African and international markets.

The Deputy High Commissioner did also gave details that Ghana's role as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area ( AfCFTA) Secretariat and urged Ghanaian producers to capitalize on this position to improve market competitiveness.

Malaysia's support, he suggested would empower Ghana with the expertise and industry knowledge necessary to advance its palm oil production.
