A 30-year-old man, identified only as Moses, has been arrested by the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command in connection with the suspected murder of his girlfriend at Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

According to police sources, the suspect, who resides at Oboman in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, reportedly travelled to visit the deceased, known as Sister Yaa, with the intention of spending the night at her residence.

Investigations indicate that a disagreement erupted between the couple after the deceased allegedly refused the suspect’s demand for sex.

The situation is said to have escalated violently, with the suspect allegedly attacking her with a machete.

Police say the assault did not end there. The suspect reportedly dragged the victim out of her room and smashed her head with a concrete block, killing her on the spot.

The gruesome incident was reported to the police by the Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta and Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, after he was informed of the killing.

Acting on the report, police arrested the suspect at Yamoah Nkwanta and later handed him over to the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command for further investigations.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary, while efforts are underway to officially notify and engage her family.

Police say the suspect remains in custody and will be processed to face the law as investigations continue.
