Ghana defender Alexander Djiku has dedicated the Black Stars’ crucial victory over Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to the Ghanaian people.

The centre-back, who returned to the starting line-up on Monday night after missing last Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Chad, proved decisive as he scored the only goal of the game at the Accra Sports Stadium, sealing a vital 1-0 win.

In a post on social media after the match, Djiku expressed gratitude to God and emphasized that the players fought for the nation.

“All for the nation. Thanks God,” he wrote on X.

The result keeps Ghana atop of Group I with 19 points, three clear of Madagascar (16) and four ahead of Comoros (15).

The Black Stars will resume their qualification campaign in October, when they face the Central African Republic and Comoros in the final two matches as they chase a ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
