Midfielder Michael Baidoo made his much-anticipated debut for the Black Stars during Ghana's goalless draw with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

The 25-year-old IF Elfsborg player was introduced as a substitute in the 80th minute, replacing Atalanta's Ibrahim Sulemana as Ghana pushed for a late winner.

Despite their best efforts to penetrate Sudan’s resilient defense, the Black Stars were unable to secure a breakthrough, resulting in a frustrating draw.

Baidoo’s call-up came after four key players, including captain Thomas Partey, were forced to withdraw from the initial squad due to injuries.

In his brief appearance, the former FK Jerv midfielder displayed moments of creativity and provided an attacking edge as Ghana pressed for a decisive goal.

Having represented Ghana at the U20 level, Baidoo will now travel with the team to Libya for the crucial return leg against Sudan.

With just two points from three matches, Ghana is in dire need of a win to strengthen their bid for qualification to the 2025 AFCON.

Currently third in Group F, the Black Stars have little room for error as they seek to revive their campaign.
