A tragic case of mistaken identity has claimed the lives of two young brothers at Sefwi Akrofu, near Sefwi Boako in the Western North Region.

Yaw Clinton, 23, and his younger brother, Kofi Nsowa, 19, were fatally stabbed in an attack allegedly carried out by a young man from Sankore who believed he was targeting someone else.

Confirming the incident, local Assemblyman Thomas Nsia, widely known as “Pogba,” explained that the suspect had been misinformed that Yaw Clinton had travelled to Sankore to pick up his girlfriend for a wake-keeping event in Akrofu.

According to him, the suspect and a group of associates acted on information that an unidentified man driving a green “Pragyia” tricycle had gone to Sankore for that purpose.

They subsequently traced the supposed individual to Akrofu.

However, the actual person involved had reportedly fled with the woman before the group arrived.

In a tragic turn, the suspect is said to have spotted Yaw Clinton driving a similar green Pragyia and mistakenly identified him as the person he was looking for.

He allegedly confronted him and, armed with a knife hidden under a long-sleeved shirt, launched a brutal attack—stabbing him multiple times until he collapsed.

Kofi Nsowa, attempting to save his brother, rushed to intervene but was also stabbed repeatedly in the process.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby clinic in Boako, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled back to Sankore. The police have since been alerted and have launched an investigation to track down and arrest him.

The incident has left the community in shock, with residents calling for swift justice and increased security to prevent such tragedies.
