Award-winning Nigerian musician and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi or Don Eazi, has thrown a bold challenge to Ghana’s tourism authorities, announcing his readiness to invest $2 million into the construction of a state-of-the-art events centre in Accra.

Taking the stage at the Detty Rave in Accra on December 27, 2025, the artiste used the moment to highlight what he described as a major gap in the country’s creative ecosystem — the lack of well-equipped venues for large-scale events.

Addressing the crowd, Mr Eazi said Accra urgently needs both indoor and outdoor facilities that can properly support concerts, festivals and cultural gatherings.

“I want to tell Ghana Tourism that we need proper venues for events in Accra. I need land for an outdoor and an indoor venue. If you think I am joking, I will drop the first $2 million,” he said, drawing loud cheers from patrons.

He explained that his vision includes the development of a dedicated rave park alongside a 3,000-seater indoor arena, facilities he believes would significantly strengthen Ghana’s live entertainment and events industry while attracting more international acts and audiences.

The comments were made during the 2025 edition of Detty Rave, hosted at Untamed Empire, which featured a strong lineup of African dance music talents including Spinall, Chichi DJ, Ciza and Mr Eazi himself.

Since its launch in 2017, Detty Rave has evolved into one of the most anticipated events of Ghana’s festive calendar, regularly drawing crowds estimated at up to 25,000 people and contributing substantially to tourism, hospitality and local business activity in Accra.

Mr Eazi’s public pledge has reignited conversations around the persistent shortage of modern, purpose-built event spaces in the capital — a challenge frequently cited by promoters, artistes and creative industry players.

By directly appealing to the Ghana Tourism Authority for land, the singer has placed the spotlight on the role of state institutions in enabling private-sector investment within the entertainment and tourism sectors.

Whether the call will translate into concrete government action remains uncertain, but the announcement has already sparked renewed debate about infrastructure, creativity and Accra’s ambitions as a leading cultural hub in Africa.
