NDC Candidate for Effia Majeed Dokurgu pledges free Student Mattresses and Textbooks if voted

Abdul Majeed Dokurgu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Effia Constituency has made a pledge that if elected, no parent will have to purchase student mattresses or textbooks for their children attending boarding school.
This comes as a bold move to address the educational challenges facing families in the Constituency, through his BOSS initiative.
He made the pledge at a rally in Effiekuma when majority leader Casel Hayford and Communication Director Sammy Gyamfi embarked on a series of campaigns in the Western Region.
Dokurgu, who is seeking to represent the Effia Constituency, has already taken concrete steps to alleviate the financial burden on parents.
"Education is the bedrock of our society, and it is our responsibility to ensure that every child has access to the resources they need to succeed," said Dokurugu.
"By providing free student mattresses and textbooks, we can remove a significant financial burden from families and allow them to focus on their children's academic and personal development."
This pledge comes on the heels of Dokurugu's previous initiative, where he distributed over 35,000 exercise books to students in the constituency when schools reopened in September.
He has committed to providing 100 student mattresses and trunks to the top-performing students across the various schools in the constituency.
Building on this success, the NDC candidate has now vowed that if he is voted into power, parents will no longer have to buy exercise books for their children.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from constituents, who have long grappled with the rising costs of education.
Many parents have expressed their support for Dokurugu's initiative, stating that it will significantly improve the overall learning environment for students in the Effia Constituency.
The party seeks to snatch the seat since it lost it in 1997 to the NPP.
And as the campaign season heats up, Dokurgu's pledge is likely to be a key talking point for the NDC in the lead-up to the upcoming parliamentary elections.
With the elections just around the corner, the stage is set for a heated battle in the Effia Constituency, where the NDC candidate's education-focused platform could prove to be a decisive factor in swaying the votes of local residents.
