Dennis Aboagye, the Special Aide to the former Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticised the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, for complaining about the energy sector crisis.
In 2024, the frequent power outages affected a lot of businesses and caused damage to a lot of electronic infrastructure.
These power disruptions placed immense financial strain on businesses, many of which were forced to invest in alternative energy sources to stay operational.
In a post shared on Facebook by Mr Aboagye, he said, "Bro Hon. John Jinapor this afternoon disagreed vehemently with Hon. John Jinapor as he continues to lament to us in the face of major dumsor crisis ongoing across the country."
His comments come after a viral video of Mr Jinapor complaining about the crisis that has hit the energy sector emerged.
He reminded the public that during the NPP's tenure, Mr Jinapor urged the government to focus on solving the country's pressing issues rather than offering excuses.
"When the people of Ghana vote for you, your duty is not to go whining, your duty is not to go nagging. Your duty is to focus on the problems and deal with the challenges," John Jinapor said at the time.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Mr Jinapor has revealed that a letter has been sent to shut down a power plant due to outstanding debts amounting to over $400 million.
"IPPs alone, we owe them 1.7 billion dollars. So it is serious. This morning, as I sit here, my headache is how to get the next parcel of liquid fuel. The fuel we have will take us 2.6 days."
"We have placed orders for fuel but it has to be paid. we have procured some fuel on credit and working with the minstry of finance to pay. The truth is that, the ministry of finance also has its limit," he said.
