NLC secures court order against CLOGSAG strike
8th November 2024
The National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured a court order against the strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG).
According to the Association, the industrial action follows the expiration of an October 31 deadline for the government to meet their demands.
This comes after a notice served on October 23, 2024, in which CLOGSAG described the prolonged delay in finalizing a salary structure for staff to be implemented from January 1, 2025.
In a statement, CLOGSAG said that despite multiple meetings since then, the government has yet to make a concrete offer.
However, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission countered, insisting that CLOGSAG has yet to respond to the government’s offer regarding the new salary structure presented to the association.
In a November 7 application, the NLC approached an Accra High Court, requesting the court to place an interim injunction on the industrial action.
After hearing the application, the court granted the injunction for 10 days, and indicated that after the expiration of this period, the Applicant would need to return to court with notice.
