Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has rejected claims that the government has neglected the Ashanti Region, calling such criticisms “unrealistic.”

He said the region has greatly benefited from various development projects under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.

During a recent forum in Kumasi, Mr. Osei-Mensah outlined key sectors where progress has been made, with road infrastructure being a major focus.

He also disclosed improvements in education, healthcare, and housing for civil servants as proof of the government’s commitment to regional development.

The Minister pointed to several ongoing and completed projects, including the Agenda 111 hospital initiative, which is set to deliver new healthcare facilities across various districts.

These include Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, polyclinics, and new housing units for healthcare workers in key communities.

In addition, Mr. Osei-Mensah mentioned the construction of modern court complexes in the region, which include accommodations for judges and magistrates, underscoring the government’s investment in justice infrastructure.

“These accommodations also feature leisure facilities for the magistrates and judges,” he noted. “If anyone claims that the Ashanti Region has seen no development under this government, that person is either living in a dream or has not visited the area.”

Mr. Osei-Mensah also addressed the issue of flooding, assuring residents that significant measures have been put in place to prevent severe flooding in recent years.

He credited the region’s stability, including a decrease in robbery incidents, to the effective collaboration between security agencies and the regional security council, which he described as “the best in the country.”

The Minister reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling its promises to the Ashanti Region, with a focus on critical infrastructure projects in the road, health, and education sectors.
