No budget allocation for fans and media in Black Stars’ World Cup qualifiers – Kofi Adams

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that no budgetary allocation has been made for fans or the media in the Black Stars’ preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The national team is currently in N’Djamena, Chad, where they will face Les Sao at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4. Ghana will then return home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, September 2, Mr. Adams revealed that the Ministry had reviewed the Ghana Football Association’s budget proposal and made significant cuts.
He disclosed that the approved $1.3 million budget covers only the team’s essential needs, with no provisions for supporters or the media.
“We don't have budget for supporters,” he told Sporty FM.
“Anyone who comes thinking there is a budget [for fans], not a pesewa is in the budget for supporters. No provision for supporters and no provision for the media.”
Meanwhile, head coach Otto Addo will oversee the team’s final training session on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s encounter.
The Black Stars, four-time World Cup participants, currently top Group I with 15 points, three ahead of Comoros, who face Mali in their Matchday 7 clash.
