The Minority New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus staged a walkout from Parliament on Wednesday morning, just days after a similar protest in support of Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako.

Clad in unity with fists raised, the MPs marched from Parliament to the National Police Headquarters.

Their objective: to petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide security for the Electoral Commission to enable the declaration of the Ablekuma North Constituency parliamentary results.

The seat remains unrepresented following chaotic scenes during the vote collation process—disruptions that reportedly involved both NPP and NDC supporters. As a result, the Electoral Commission has yet to declare a winner, leaving constituents without a representative in Parliament.

Addressing journalists at the Police Headquarters, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompreh stressed the constitutional implications of the delay.

“The absence of a declared MP for Ablekuma North constitutes a serious violation of the constitutional right to representation guaranteed under the 1992 Constitution,” he stated.

The Minority is urging the police to act swiftly to ensure peace and security for the EC to carry out its mandate.
