Salam Mustapha, National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed his delight at the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) calling off its strike and resuming academic activities at the University of Ghana.

“It was a great delight to receive the news that UTAG has called off its strike,” Mustapha declared, adding, “I am exceedingly happy with this development and doff my hat for UTAG and salute them.”

On October 28, 2024, Mustapha had issued a press release urging the resumption of academic work at public universities, emphasizing that his appeal was made in the interest of the students. “I was mindful of the academic work and also their constitutional right to vote since most of the students registered on campus,” he explained.

He recognized the concerns of both students and faculty members about the impact of a prolonged strike on the academic calendar, noting, “I have had fruitful discussions with some executives of UTAG and members who expressed grave worry over the continuation of the strike as it had the propensity to dislocate the realigned academic calendar.”

In closing, Mustapha reiterated his gratitude toward UTAG and its leadership for their dedication to the academic community.

“Once again, I wish to express my profound gratitude to UTAG and its executives for their show of good faith, fidelity, and commitment to Ghanaian students. The NPP youth wing says Ayeekoo,” he affirmed, signalling a hopeful path forward for both students and educators as the academic year resumes.
