#OccupyBOG: Arise Ghana announces new date to protest against Bank of Ghana
24th September 2023
Pressure group Arise Ghana has said that Ghana's central bank, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) will be the target of another demonstration in the country in the upcoming weeks.
The planned protest is scheduled for October 3, 2023, according to a Facebook post by a leading member of the group, Rex Omar.
Rex Omar made it clear that the Arise Ghana organization operates within the bounds of the law and that they will not submit to any efforts by the police or even the military to intimidate them.
His remarks come a day after Democratic Hub's #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration. The 3-day protest was against Ghana's economic woes and corruption.
The Arise Ghana group gave notice in August 2023 that it would join the Minority to protest the governor, his appointees, and the board of directors of the Bank of Ghana over their decision to build a new head office at a cost of $250 million.
The group criticized the central bank's decision to build a new headquarters in a press release as being reckless.
