Five individuals, including three immigration officers, sustained injuries following a violent attack by an angry mob in Ayigya, located within the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, November 26, when the mob, allegedly led by a neighbour of the officers, stormed a two-story Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) property.

The attackers, armed with machetes and other weapons, attempted to set the building and its occupants ablaze.

Eyewitnesses reported that parts of the building were burned, while the mob also stole items including mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The attack is believed to have stemmed from a protracted property dispute. The neighbour, who claims ownership of the building, has reportedly been harassing the officers to evict them. Despite three separate court rulings favouring the Ghana Immigration Service, the neighbour allegedly resorted to intimidation and violence.

According to Citi News sources, seven individuals, including the primary suspect, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

The immigration officers involved declined to comment on the matter, while some eyewitnesses, speaking anonymously, shared their accounts of the incident.

The property dispute remains under litigation as tensions between the parties persist.
