The People’s National Convention (PNC) has declared its support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 election.
The decision follows a National Executive meeting held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
The PNC Chairman, Samson Asaki Awingobit, announced the development at a press conference on Wednesday.
“Nine days to the general elections, the PNC cannot remain neutral. We had 15 regional representatives for our NEC meeting today.
“At the end of deliberations, we collectively and by majority declare that the PNC will throw its support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 general elections,” Mr. Awingobit announced.
The PNC’s move follows the disqualification of its Presidential Candidate, Bernard Mornah.
Mr. Mornah and 10 other candidates were disqualified from the presidential race after the EC discovered errors during a thorough vetting of their nomination forms.
Dissatisfied with this action, Mr. Mornah filed a lawsuit against the EC, alleging that his constitutional rights were violated by not being given the opportunity to correct the errors.
