Black Stars coach Otto Addo has publicly supported Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku following his impassioned speech during the team’s dinner on Tuesday.

After a rocky start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Okraku expressed his disappointment with the players’ performances, urging them to step up and emphasizing the importance of representing the national team.

In his remarks, Okraku warned that he would assist Addo in dropping players who do not demonstrate the commitment needed to don the Ghana shirt.

While these comments were met with criticism from some fans, Addo defended Okraku’s statements in a media briefing on Wednesday.

“I think it’s good. Sometimes you need another person to voice what has already been said," Addo explained. “I’ve spoken to the players, and so have the technical staff.”

As Ghana prepares to host Sudan in the first leg of their crucial doubleheader today at the Accra Sports Stadium, kickoff is set for 16:00 GMT.

With Ghana currently sitting third in Group F and seeking their first win in the qualifying campaign, the team is determined to turn their fortunes around.

The return match is scheduled for Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
