Black Stars head coach Otto Addo remains confident about Ghana’s chances of securing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite the recent goalless draw against Sudan in Accra.

While the result added further pressure on the team’s qualifying campaign, Addo believes that Ghana still holds control over their fate.

Reflecting on the disappointing outcome, Addo acknowledged the challenges ahead but highlighted the unpredictable nature of football.

“This is football—there are no guarantees. I cannot even guarantee my own life—maybe God will take it tomorrow.

What I can promise is that we will give it our all, and I trust that in the end, we’ll be rewarded,” he stated during the post-match press conference.

With Ghana currently sitting third in Group F with just two points from three matches, the stakes are high as they prepare for a critical return leg against Sudan in Libya on October 14.

Addo emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, but was realistic about the challenges ahead.

“The positive side is that our destiny remains in our hands. We have to win the next game—that’s the focus. But winning that game doesn’t necessarily guarantee qualification.

There’s still a long way to go,” Addo explained, underscoring the complexity of the road to AFCON 2025.

The Black Stars have struggled in their qualifying campaign thus far, with two draws and one loss, leaving their path to the tournament uncertain.

However, Addo remains optimistic that an improved performance in Libya will be the key to turning their fortunes around.
