Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey made an assured return from injury as Villarreal CF secured a narrow 1-0 away victory over Levante UD in La Liga on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old came off the bench in the 79th minute, marking his first appearance since 28 January, when he featured in Villarreal’s UEFA Champions League defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.

Although limited to just 11 minutes, Partey’s impact was immediate. Calm and composed in possession, he dictated the tempo in midfield as Villarreal saw out the result on the road. His brief cameo was statistically flawless, completing every pass he attempted, including all of his long balls, as Villarreal protected their slender lead.

Nicknamed the Yellow Submarines, Villarreal showed resilience to grind out the win, a result that lifts them into the top three of the Spanish top flight and strengthens their push for European qualification.

For Partey, it was a welcome return after weeks on the sidelines. There were no signs of rustiness in his movement or decision-making, and his assured display will be encouraging for both club and country as the season enters a decisive phase.
