PHOTOS: Nima comes to a standstill for Alhaji Bature's funeral

Over 5000 people turned up for Alhaji Bature's funeral on Saturday January 6,2018 bringing the entire township of Nima to a standstill.

The influential political commentator who died yesterday January 5, 2018 was being buried today Saturday January 6, according to Islamic traditions.

The busy Nima market was shut down for about an hour as the prayer for the deceased brought out more than 5000 people.

With Alhaji Bature's family house on the main Nima highway, the long stretch of the street had to be closed to accommodate the multitude.

The presence of high profile personalities also heightened interest and human traffic which could not be controlled by the heavy presence of the military.

Government delegation led by Vice President Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia and several  Ministers of State were in  attendance to commiserate with the bereaved family.

Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), were heavily represented by the younger brother of the Former President, Ibrahim Mahama, MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, Joseph Ade Coker, Samuel Ablakwa, Mustapha Ahmed, Joshua Alabi.

Others were Former NHIS boss, Sylvester Mensah, Harry Zakour, Lawyer Victor Adawudu.

The late Alhaji Bature Iddrissu, was the first host of Radio Gold's flagship political talk show, Alhaji and Alhaji. He was also the editor of the Alhajj Newspaper.

Prior to his demise, Alhaji Bature was a regular panelist on Adom TV's morning political show, Bedwam where he represented opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
