Popular Ghanaian radio presenter working with Renaissance Communications Inc. has died in Monrovia, Liberia.
Benjamin Ebow Ayain, known in the media circles as Ebow Benjy, hailed from Gomoa Fetteh, a coastal town in the Central Region.
Confirming his death to Ghana Guardian, wife of the desceased broadcaster, Mrs. Eva Ebow Ayain said her husband was unwell and had just been discharged from the medical center.
"He was sick and hospitalized but he was recovering and hoping to resume work soon", teary Eva told Eric Nana Prekoh in a virtual conversation.
She, however, could not immediately disclose the cause of his death.
Until Ebow's shocking demise, he was the Director of Programs at RCI's Truth FM.
Before switching camp with Truth FM, 'the radio virus' had worked with Radio Five, a popular radio firm in the capital.
While in Ghana, Ebow Benjy served as the news editor of Enchi-based Trickie FM.
He basically was the host of current affairs shows of most of the stations he worked with within the Western North enclave, including Rainbow Radio in Juaboso, Dé Beat FM in Asanwinso and Liberty FM in Sefwi Wiawso.
"We're making arrangements with the Ghanaian community here in Monrovia to decide if we'll airlift his remains back home in Ghana", the late Ebow's friend, Christopher also told Nana Prekoh via telephone.
One of Ebow's colleagues, Amb DJweezy D Boss wrote on Facebook: "Benjy, you were a wonderful employee who understood the meaning of the word "team". You were always more focused on the good of the company you worked with than on his own benefit. He made many great contributions to the company and helped it move forward in numerous ways. His work here in Liberia will not soon be forgotten."
LIB - 24 FM's Raw E Raw said Ebow had plans of visiting his native country on October 15th [just 3days before he died].
"Ebow Benjy I can't still believe you are no more!! We spoke few days ago and you told me "MR RAW all is set I will be going to Ghana on the 15th October, thanks for everything, keep me in your prayers, when I come back we will work together". I didn't know that was the last talking to you", he revealed on Facebook.
