RTU starts life in Division One with a banger in Zone 1

Former Premier League side Real Tamale United were off to a stunning start in the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League as they thrashed Wa Sore Nante 5-0 at Jinapor Park on Sunday.
Abdulai Abdul Rashid put the Northern giants in front with a 28th minute strike after he got on the end of a delightful cross.
Jacob Mangan doubled the lead for the home side 4 minutes later as Jonas Wisdom Manyina added one in the 41st minute to give Real Tamale United a 3-0 lead.
Blabala Bamson’s 51st minute goal and Gilbert Wiafe’s 85th minute own goal sealed victory for the Blues.
In another fierce battle, Bofoakwa Tano shared the spoils with Kwesi Ameyaw Cheremeh (KAC) Soccer Academy at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
Dana Blessing netted a superb free kick in the 42nd minute to give Bofoakwa Tano the lead but Stephen Korankye squared the game with a brilliant header.
Meanwhile Wa Power FC trounced Walewale Catholic Stars 3-1 at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre. Issahaku Wahab and Israel Iddrisu scored two early goals in the 13th and 2st minutes to give Wa Power FC a 2-0 advantage at the break.
Walewale Catholic Stars pulled one back in the 67th minute before Mabrouk Mohammed put the nail in the coffin with an 87th minute goal to make it 3-1.
