Mohamed Salah has reached another landmark in his remarkable career, becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

The Egyptian forward achieved the milestone on 18 March 2026, scoring in Liverpool FC’s emphatic 4-0 win over Galatasaray SK in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Salah’s strike in the 62nd minute not only marked a personal milestone but also helped seal a 4-1 aggregate victory, sending Liverpool into the quarter-finals.

The 31-year-old’s tally spans three clubs, underlining his consistency at the highest level. While the majority of his goals, 47, have come during his prolific spell at Liverpool, he also found the net during earlier stints with FC Basel and AS Roma.

‎With this achievement, Salah moves clear at the top of the list of African scorers in the competition’s history, surpassing Didier Drogba, who scored 44 goals, and Samuel Eto'o, a three-time winner with 30.

‎Former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mané follows with 27 goals, while Riyad Mahrez completes the top five with 20.

‎Salah’s latest milestone further cements his status as one of the Champions League’s most influential forwards and highlights his enduring impact on the European stage.

‎Beyond the numbers, his achievement represents a significant moment for African football, showcasing the continued rise and influence of players from the continent in the global game.

With Liverpool advancing in the competition, attention will remain firmly on Salah, whose record suggests there could yet be more history to come.
