The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed that the Senegalese Football Federation has formally lodged an appeal challenging a controversial decision by the Confederation of African Football to strip Senegal of their Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco.

In its filing, the Senegalese FA is seeking the annulment of CAF’s ruling and the reinstatement of Senegal as the rightful champions. The appeal also calls for a suspension of the deadline to submit a full case until CAF provides detailed reasoning behind its decision.

The dispute has escalated into one of the most significant legal battles in African football in recent years, placing the final verdict in the hands of CAS, the sport’s highest arbitration body.

CAS will now review the case and is expected to deliver a binding decision that could determine the official outcome of the tournament.

The development adds a new chapter to an already contentious saga, with both sides awaiting clarity as the legal process unfolds.
