Ghanaian forward Mohammed Sofo has spoken of his delight after making a long-awaited return from injury to feature for the New York Red Bulls in their Major League Soccer campaign.

‎The 21-year-old missed the opening three matches of the season due to injury but recovered in time to start in the trip to face Toronto FC at BMO Field.

‎New head coach Michael Bradley handed Sofo his first appearance of the campaign, as the Red Bulls battled to a 1-1 draw away from home.

‎Toronto took the lead just before half-time through Dániel Sallói, putting the hosts in control heading into the break.

‎But the visitors showed resilience in the second half, with substitute Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scoring a late equaliser to earn a valuable point.

‎Speaking after the match, Sofo expressed pride in the team’s determination following his return.

‎“Great feeling to be back out there with the family, fighting for the badge,” he wrote on social media. “We wanted more but I’m proud of how the team kept believing and fought until the very end.”

‎The winger’s comeback is seen as a significant boost for the Red Bulls as they push for a play-off place this season.

‎Fellow Ghanaian Ronald Donkor also featured in the match, highlighting the growing influence of Ghanaian players within the squad.

‎The result leaves New York with momentum as they look ahead to the next round of fixtures, encouraged by both their fighting spirit and the return of one of their promising attacking options.
