Sudan striker John Manu has expressed his team's readiness for their upcoming match against Ghana, emphasizing that they are not feeling the pressure to secure a positive result.
The Falcons of Jediane are set to face the Black Stars in the first leg of their doubleheader for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers today at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Manu, who plays for Al-Ahli Benghazi, reassured fans that his teammates remain calm and composed, regardless of Ghana's formidable reputation.
“Sudan is not a new team in this kind of competition, having once won the AFCON,” he stated, highlighting Sudan's historical success.
Manu recalled past encounters, noting, “We have beaten Ghana before to qualify for the AFCON, so there is no pressure.
We are very calm, and we are well prepared for this match.” He also shared his admiration for former Ghanaian star Asamoah Gyan, expressing pride in playing in front of his family.
When asked about the impact of their coach, Kwesi Appiah, Manu praised the significant changes he has implemented, thanks to his extensive experience in coaching.
The highly anticipated match is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT, with the return leg scheduled for Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
Currently, Sudan sits second in Group F with three points, while Ghana has accumulated just one point.
