Trabzonspor are in the winter transfer market for new additions to boost their squad to help their push for European places.

Caleb Ekuban may have his position under threat If reports linking his club to Portuguese striker Joao Carvalho from Nottingham Forest.

According to Fotospor, scouts from Turkish club Trabzonspor have recommended the  playmaker to manager Unal Karaman as a potential new signing.

It adds that Trabzonspor are looking for the “new Caleb Ekuban”, who arrived at the club on a permanent deal from Leeds United in the summer.

Carvalho is currently in his second season at the City Ground, after joining the Reds in the summer of 2018 from Portuguese outfit Benfica.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal with Forest, which runs until the summer of 2023, and arrived for a club record fee of £13m (15m euro).

Since arriving on Trentside, Carvalho has made 54 appearances for the Reds, scoring six goals and providing nine assists for his team mates.

Since Sabri Lamouchi replaced Martin O’Neill in the City Ground dugout in the summer, Carvalho has been a regular figure for the Reds.

After missing the opening five matches of the season due to injury, the Portuguese Under-21 international has featured in all but one of Forest’s Sky Bet Championship fixtures.

His stats for the season so far read two goals and one assist in all competitions, with his solitary strike in the league coming in the 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers last month.
