The Ghana Police Service in Tamale has arrested and secured the remand of three suspected armed robbers, including two Level 400 students of the University for Development Studies (UDS), following a robbery incident along the Bolga–Nasia road.

The suspects—Peter Abugri (24), Asuma Shaini (22), and Yakubu Wakasu (19)—were arrested after a victim reported being attacked while relieving himself in nearby bushes.

According to the complainant, the three men, armed with a pistol and a knife, robbed him of his iPhone 17 Pro and a Haojue motorbike.

The victim later tracked the stolen phone and alerted police at the Bolga–Nasia checkpoint, indicating that the suspects were heading toward the North East Region. Acting swiftly, officers intercepted one of the suspects with the motorbike.

Subsequent searches at hostels on the Nyankpala and Dungu campuses led to the arrest of the remaining suspects and the recovery of the stolen items, including a pistol, machetes, a jackknife, the iPhone, and the motorbike.

Police say the suspects have since been charged and remanded into custody, with the case adjourned to April 19, 2026, as investigations continue.
