Upper East Refrees Association elect regional executives

The Upper East Regional Referees Association of Ghana held their Regional Executives Elections on Saturday, 20th January, 2018 at the Assembly Hall of the Bolgatanga Senior High School in Bolgatanga.

A teacher, Mohammed Ayamga Tijani was elected unopposed as the new Chairman for the Association as he was the sole candidate for the chairmanship position.
Dawud Ouedraogo was also elected as the Vice Chairman, also going unopposed.

Speaking to GBC Ura Radio sports after the election Mohamme Tijani said ."The fact that i stood unopposed is a manifestation of the believe and confidence my colleagues referees have in me and I will want to assure them of my readiness to work in the interest of all members".

The 34 year old, headmaster of Tongo - Balungu JHS is taking over from FIFA referee Dawud Ouedraogo, who has served all his three terms in office.

And Tijani has kind words for the outgoing chairman, "I know this position comes with huge responsibilities, especially as am taking over from Mr. Dawud Ouedraogo, A man who has been a pillar and father to all the referees in the region. He is leaving behind an incredible legacy and i will continue to learn from him and seek his support in how to manage the association."

The Upper East region can boast of three(3) FIFA referees, Nine(9)Premier League referees, Forty Two(42) Division One Referees and over 80 Divisional referees.
The Secretary position to Mr. Bernard Domfeh who pulled 80 votes to beat his challenger Adam Francis Xavier who had 27 votes.

The keenly contested position was the physical instructor's role ,where Paul Afolendek saw off Alex Akugre with a vote difference. Mr. Afolendek had 51 votes to Akugre 50 votes.
