Victor Boniface shines on debut as Werder Bremen thrash Gladbach
15th September 2025
Nigerian forward Victor Boniface made an immediate impact on his Werder Bremen debut, providing a crucial assist in their commanding 4-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 24-year-old, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, entered the game in the 75th minute and needed just six minutes to make his mark. His incisive through-ball set up Justin Njinmah, who applied a classy outside-foot finish to cap Bremen’s dominant display.
By then, Horst Steffen’s men had already taken full control. Rising star Samuel Mbangula opened the scoring with a thunderous strike before turning provider for Jens Stage to double the advantage. Romano Schmid added a third from the penalty spot in the 74th minute after Mbangula was fouled.
Boniface’s cameo was the perfect introduction to his new club, showcasing the creativity and attacking presence Bremen will look to rely on this season.
Relishing his role in the victory over the weekend, the Nigerian attacker took to the internet to celebrate the win with a post:
"How may I assist you?" regarding the assist he gave Justin Njinmah.
The Super Eagles striker will now be targeting his first goal when Bremen continue their Bundesliga campaign next weekend.
