Villarreal join race for Ghana’s Abdul Fatawu Issahaku

Spanish side Villarreal have entered the race to sign Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku following an impressive season with Leicester City in the English Championship.
The 20-year-old has been one of Leicester’s standout performers, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 26 appearances as the former Premier League champions push for a return to the top flight.
Fatawu’s form has already attracted interest from Sunderland and AFC Bournemouth, with Villarreal now monitoring his situation closely. The La Liga club believe the Ghana international fits their recruitment model, valuing his pace, technical ability and direct attacking style on the flanks.
Reports suggest Villarreal are prepared to offer around €30m for the former Sporting CP player, who is under contract at Leicester until 2029. Sunderland are also understood to be willing to match that valuation, underlining the growing competition for his signature.
While the proposed fee would be a significant one for a Championship club, it is thought to be in line with Leicester City’s stance of retaining key players unless their valuation is met.
On the international stage, Fatawu is expected to be named in Ghana’s Black Stars squad for next month’s friendly against Germany, further highlighting his rising profile in European football.
