W/R: Two arrested for forcing teenagers into sexual intercourse in viral video
28th February 2026
The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two men captured in a viral video forcibly compelling two teenagers, a 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, to engage in sexual intercourse at Effiakuma in the Western Region.
The suspects, identified as Edward Azalekor, 52, an Assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, and Martin Amuzu, 35, an uncle of the female victim, were arrested on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following the circulation of a disturbing WhatsApp video submitted to the police by a presenter at Takoradi-based Connect FM.
In the widely shared footage, the two men are seen physically assaulting the teenagers and forcing them to have sexual intercourse inside a shop, while onlookers reportedly cheered, laughed, and recorded the act.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the female victim left home on the afternoon of February 16, 2026, without informing her mother and returned later that night at about 7:40 p.m. Her mother, angered by the incident, reportedly contacted Edward Azalekor and asked him to discipline the girl.
Police say the suspects subsequently lured the teenage boy to the location and coerced him into having sexual intercourse with the girl in their presence.
The two suspects were arraigned before the Harbour District Court on Friday, February 27, 2026, and were granted bail in the sum of GH₵20,000 each. They are expected to reappear in court on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The female victim has since been placed in the care of the Department of Social Welfare, while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, police are pursuing a third suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who allegedly filmed the act and is currently on the run. The Police Command says efforts are underway to arrest him and bring him to justice.
