Wontumi FM/TV presenter arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a radio and television presenter with Kumasi-based Wontumi TV/ FM over the publication of false news.

This follows a Police invitation for Nana Asiedu to assist with investigations concerning the dissemination of false information about the 7th December election.

In the video, Oheneba in the studios of Wontumi FM claimed that voters will cast their ballots for presidential candidates on separate days.

In a statement, the Police noted the presenter’s offence include publication of false news contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 Act (29).

He is currently in custody, pending a court appearance.
