Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has called on former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo to help resolve escalating tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His appeal comes amid reports of growing factionalism and internal power struggles ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, scheduled for January 2026.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, June 23, Mr. Boamah stressed the need for unity, urging the two former leaders to use their influence to bring calm and refocus the party on its founding principles.
“This party has produced two presidents. We are fortunate to have two former presidents alive."
“I am calling them to call for some action and order in the party because this party produced them. If we are going through this turmoil, we ask that they call people round the table and have a heart-to-heart chat with them," he said.
Mr. Boamah said the leadership of the former Presidents who are both respected figures within the NPP, could be instrumental in restoring stability and preparing the party for the 2026 elections.
