12-year-old girl allegedly beaten by mother over GHc10 plantain sale

A 12-year-old girl, Vida Kwarteng, is reported to have suffered severe injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by her mother, Diana Kwarteng, following a dispute over the sale of plantain harvested from their family farm.

The incident occurred at Abrabra, a community in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality in the Western North Region.

Information gathered by Adom News indicates that Vida sold part of the harvested plantain for GH¢10 while her mother was away from home.

The girl reportedly did so in an attempt to buy food for herself and her sibling.

However, when her mother returned home and discovered the sale, she allegedly became enraged and assaulted the child with a cane.

As a result of the beating, Vida is said to have sustained severe bruises from her neck down to her waist.

As of the time this report was filed, the suspect, Diana Kwarteng, had not yet been arrested by the Ghana Police Service.
