Former Ghana national football team captain Stephen Appiah has been unveiled as the new brand ambassador for SIC Insurance PLC in a one-year partnership aimed at promoting insurance awareness and strengthening public trust in the company’s services.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the company’s headquarters in Accra, where the Ghanaian football legend was formally introduced as the face of the brand for the next 12 months.
Speaking after the announcement, Appiah expressed gratitude for the opportunity and highlighted the responsibility that comes with representing a major national institution.
“With deep gratitude and humility, I accept the honour of representing the State Insurance Company,” he said. “This is not just a personal milestone, but a reflection of the collective effort, trust and vision of everyone who believes in SIC’s mission to deliver accessible, reliable and innovative insurance for all Ghanaians.”
Appiah, who famously captained Ghana to its maiden 2006 FIFA World Cup, said the partnership offers a platform to promote financial protection and educate the public about the importance of insurance.
“Insurance is more than a product; it’s a safeguard that brings peace of mind and financial security in life’s uncertainties,” he said, encouraging individuals and businesses to prioritise insurance as part of their financial planning.
The Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, James Agyenim-Boateng described the collaboration as a strategic partnership between two institutions that share values of leadership, credibility and national pride.
“Stephen Appiah represents the spirit of leadership, perseverance and excellence that SIC Insurance Plc stands for,” he said. “His influence and connection with the Ghanaian public make him an ideal partner as we continue to deepen insurance awareness and strengthen trust in our brand.”
Mr Agyenim-Boateng added that beyond his achievements on the pitch, Appiah embodies discipline, resilience and national service, qualities the company believes align with its vision.
Through the partnership, SIC Insurance hopes to leverage Appiah’s influence to expand public education on insurance while encouraging more Ghanaians to protect their lives, families and investments.
The collaboration brings together one of Ghana’s most recognised financial institutions and one of the country’s most celebrated football figures, with both parties expressing optimism that the initiative will also inspire young people and contribute positively to sports and youth development in Ghana.
