<span;>Aduana FC have expressed deep sorrow following the death of their player Dominic Frimpong, who was on loan at Berekum Chelsea, after a reported armed robbery attack on the team bus.
In a statement released on 13 April, the Dormaa-based club said they were “deeply saddened” by the tragic incident, which occurred after Berekum Chelsea’s Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex 1996.
Aduana confirmed the 20-year-old’s passing, describing it as a devastating blow not only to the two clubs involved but to Ghanaian football as a whole.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Dominic Frimpong, a player we proudly loaned to Berekum Chelsea. This is a devastating loss to both clubs and Ghana football as a whole,” the statement said.
The club extended its condolences to Frimpong’s family, teammates and all those affected, adding that their thoughts and prayers are with them during what it described as an extremely difficult time.
Frimpong had been regarded as one of the emerging talents in the domestic game and was beginning to make a steady impact during his loan spell.
His death has sent shockwaves through the Ghana Premier League, prompting renewed calls for improved security measures to protect clubs travelling for matches.
As tributes continue to pour in, Aduana concluded its message with a final farewell: “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
