Ahafo NDC rejects election results in region, accuses EC of rigging

The Ahafo Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed its unhappiness with the general election’s outcome in its region.
The Ahafo Regional Secretary of the NDC, Assanaba Imoro, stated that the party rejects the results of the Electoral Commission (EC).
“The Ahafo Regional National Democratic Congress entirely condemns the EC’s executed rigging agenda of the 2020 presidential elections unequivocally and rejects the results that were announced.”
Addressing a press conference at Goaso, the NDC further criticised the intimidation of its members in the Ahafo Region before and during the elections.
“The process leading to the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections has been an awful experience for the well-meaning Ghanaian people in the Ahafo Region. The Voter registration exercise was characterized by intimidation in the Ahafo Region. In fact, if you can remember clearly, our MP for the Asutifi South was pepper-sprayed. Apart from that, our regional youth organizer, Charles Asiedu, was tortured by the police and was hospitalized, the regional communications officer was handcuffed like a criminal.”
“We saw this not as mere occurrences, but a calculated grand scheme to subvert the will of the people which can be seen now. During the polls, the NPP hoodlums succeeded in picking up two ballot boxes in one of our constituencies, and we have records and even reports at the police station but no action has been taken'” he added.
NDC rejects results of 2020 polls; describes election as flawed
The larger NDC rejected the outcome of the general election.
According to the party, the election was flawed, and it does not recognise incumbent President, Nana Akufo-Addo as the rightfully elected President of Ghana.
Addressing the press late Wednesday evening, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu said: “We roundly reject and outrightly reject the declaration of the sitting president as the winner of the 2020 elections. In due course, our flagbearer will brief the nation and the international community”.
A day later, the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama, also rejected what he described as the fictionalised outcome of the polls.
