National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Nadowli/Kaleo, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin, will today Monday, August 13, 2018, present a letter to the General Secretary of the party to officially declare his intention to contest its vacant flagbearer position.
The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana, who has made his intentions known to party faithfuks is expected to officially inform the party in writing.
General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah recently said so far seven aspirants have written to officially declare the intention to contest the flagbearership race which is scheduled to take place on December 7, 2018.
Among those who have declared their intent to contest the flagbearership race include Sylvester Mensah, Stephen Atubiga, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah and Prof. Joshua Alabi.
The letter of intent was occasioned by a directive from the leadership of the party who argues that it will enable them to monitor closely the campaign activities of all the aspirants.
Hon. Bagbin, according to a source closer to him, will immediately proceed to the Volta Region where he is expected to commence his campaign after submitting his letter of intent.
His tour to the strong hold of the NDC, the source further hinted, will be led by former Members of Parliament (MPs) in the region.
Former President John Dramani Mahama who has been tipped as the favorite for the flagbearership slot for the NDC is expected to formally inform the party in the coming week.
