Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu continues to draw warm applause from Ghanaians on social media, following his rowsing address at the 2025 International Democratic Union (IDU) Conference in Belgium.

The Conference assembled global leaders of conservative political ideologies, and Dr. Bawumia, representing the NPP and the Africa in a round table discussion, delivered a breathtaking response to a question on the ongoing global trade war and its impact on economic stability.

The former Vice President wowed the audience with his indepth understanding of the issues, interlacing his presentation with historical antecedents of trade wars, as well as off-the-cuff references of data, to buttress his point.

Dr. Bawumia's impressive presentation went viral, with traditional media, bloggers and individuals sharing widely, and a number of personalities, including journalists Manaseh Azure, Sampson Lardi and IMANI's Kofi Bentil applauding his insightful presentation.

A number of Ghanaians on social media have also joined in commending the former Vice President.

"Dr Bawumia, is such an intelligent man, always proud when he represents Ghana on the global stage," a social media user, Maltiti Sadick wrote.

Another, Atamkpibiri Milton was impressed by Bawumia's detailed off-the-cuff presentation and wrote: ''watch the video carefully no script nor teleprompter, the man is blessed with so much wisdom."

Another social media user, Tengbane Jonas, expressed his admiration for Bawumia, adding that Ghanaians will soon appreciate him.

"I always enjoy listening to this man, the man of the moment. Your time will surely come and people will appreciate your inputs," he wrote.

Mayor Carlos, who also shared his views on the presentation, applauded Dr. Bawumia for his "understanding of the question."

"Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a solid economist. His exploit as the Vice President of speaks volumes," he added.

I pressed by Bawumia’s presentation, another user, Dominic Waale described Bawumia as "very intelligent" and , suggested the former Vice President was not allowed to work.

"Very intelligent theoretically. I must admit but it's mindboggling why he couldn't translate all of that into practical manifestation. Maybe he was being used by his boss with his hands tied behind him. They basically destroyed him in terms of his political credibility."
