Alidu Seidu reflects on Black Stars' draw and sets sights on Sudan

Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has shared his thoughts on the Black Stars' recent 1-1 draw against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
This disappointing result follows a previous loss at home to Angola, leaving Ghana’s hopes for qualification in a precarious position.
In the match against Niger, Seidu scored his debut goal for the national team, but the draw meant the Black Stars ended up with just one point from their first two games.
As they prepare for must-win fixtures against Sudan on October 10 and October 15, the pressure is on to turn their fortunes around.
"Now we have Sudan coming up, and playing 1-1 against Niger will serve as a lesson for us. We are going to give everything to beat Sudan both at home and away," Seidu told Flashscore.
Reflecting on the Niger game, Seidu admitted the team struggled with their performance, particularly in the early stages, where they frequently lost possession.
“When I scored, I wasn’t too happy because I knew we could do better. In African football, scoring just one goal is never enough.
If I had scored a second goal, I would have celebrated more; but it was 1-0, and I was already thinking about getting that second goal,” he explained.
As the Black Stars gear up for the critical matches against Sudan, Seidu highlighted the emotional stakes involved but aims to maintain composure on the pitch.
"There will be high emotions for the Sudan game, but there’s no pressure. I will try to give everything and enjoy the football so that people are happy," he added.
