Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has revealed that Ronaldinho, the Brazilian football legend, was his footballing idol growing up, and he strives to replicate aspects of the iconic player's style on the pitch.

Ronaldinho, regarded as one of the greatest players in football history, had a glittering career in which he won the Ballon d'Or twice and played a key role in Brazil's triumph at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

In an interview with EFL on My Football Icon, the Coventry City star, born in England, reflected on the impact Ronaldinho had on his footballing journey.

He spoke about how the Brazilian's flair and creativity inspired him to develop a unique connection with the ball.

“He had an impact on my career because I try to emulate him. When you first start playing football, you see him doing something, and you try that skill,” Thomas-Asante explained.

He shared fond memories of his childhood, saying, “I remember my neighbors always pointing out how I’d go to the shop with a football at my feet. I think that definitely comes from watching players like him, who were always featured in adverts and displays.”

The forward emphasized that Ronaldinho’s love for the game is what resonated with him the most. “What made him so special to me was how he always enjoyed the game.

He put all his energy into entertaining people and making them happy," Thomas-Asante said, praising the Brazilian's passion and ability to keep his composure on the field.

He further acknowledged that Ronaldinho’s influence continues to be felt across generations. "He inspired a whole generation and more. Even now, people still see him as the most skillful player the world has ever seen."

Thomas-Asante's admiration for Ronaldinho has played a key role in shaping his own approach to the game, with the Coventry City forward continuing to impress with his flair and attacking prowess.
