Keenan Appiah-Forson scored a late winner to seal a 2-1 victory for Southend United against Yeovil Town in the National League.
The hosts made a fast start at Roots Hall, taking the lead just four minutes into the game through Gus Scott-Morriss. However, Yeovil responded strongly after the break, with Jake Wannell equalising shortly after the hour mark to shift momentum in favour of the visitors.
With the match finely balanced, Appiah-Forson delivered the decisive moment in the 84th minute, finding the net to restore Southend’s lead and secure all three points. His late strike capped an energetic performance in midfield and highlighted his growing importance in Kevin Maher’s side.
The 2025/26 campaign has seen the midfielder feature regularly, making 34 appearances while contributing a goal and an assist.
The victory extends Southend’s strong run of form and keeps them firmly in the hunt for promotion. They will now look to build on that momentum when they host Braintree Town in their next National League fixture on Friday.
