Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has rejected reports linking him with a return to the Ghana national football team, describing the speculation as untrue.
Media reports earlier this week suggested the former Ghana coach was due in the country for talks over the vacant national team job, following the dismissal of Otto Addo.
However, Appiah moved quickly to dismiss the claims, insisting he remains focused on his current role.
“It’s not true. I am in Saudi Arabia to monitor some Sudanese players,” he told GHANASoccernet.com.
The speculation comes at a time when the Ghana Football Association is searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Otto Addo, whose tenure ended following defeats to Austria and Germany in recent international friendlies.
Appiah, who previously led Ghana at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been widely mentioned among potential candidates due to his familiarity with the team and experience at the highest level.
Despite his links to the role, his latest comments appear to distance him from any immediate return, leaving the GFA to continue its search for a successor with the World Cup fast approaching.
