The Ashaiman Circuit Court has sentenced Freeman Kudjo, a resident of Zenu in Ashaiman, to 10 years and three months in prison with hard labour after he assaulted and robbed a woman of her mobile phones.

The complainant, whose identity has been withheld, lives at East Legon. She reportedly connected with Kudjo on Facebook, where he proposed friendship.

On August 26, 2025, Kudjo invited her to meet him at Community 22 Estate in Ashaiman. Shortly after their encounter, they went for a walk in the area.

During the stroll, Kudjo suddenly attacked her, grabbing her by the neck and pressing her against a wall.

He forcibly searched her bag and fled with an iPhone XR and a Vivo phone, together valued at GH¢4,500.

The victim raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to intervene. Kudjo was quickly apprehended by community members and handed over to the Community 22 Police.

The stolen phones were recovered during the arrest.

Presiding judge Her Honour Priscilla Sophia Yeboah convicted him on a charge of robbery and sentenced him to 10 years and three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
