Public outrage is mounting on social media after a video surfaced showing four men believed to be staff of Bills Micro Credit, formerly known as Quick Credit, confronting a woman inside her home over an alleged unpaid debt.
In the footage circulating online, the men—wearing branded Lacoste shirts and arriving in a company-branded vehicle—are seen engaging the woman in a heated verbal exchange while she sits with a baby on her lap.
Reports accompanying the video claim the woman allegedly owes the company GH¢300, which she is said to have failed to repay for about three weeks.
During the confrontation, one of the men is alleged to have seized the woman’s mobile phone while she was still holding the baby. When she attempted to retrieve the phone, the situation reportedly escalated.
The footage appears to show one of the men pushing the woman to the ground together with the baby, an act that provoked anger from witnesses present at the scene.
A male bystander who witnessed the incident is also seen confronting the workers, questioning their conduct and expressing outrage over the treatment of the woman.
The incident has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many calling on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the actions of the individuals involved.
The development has also renewed debate about the conduct of some microcredit institutions during debt recovery, with critics urging companies to adopt methods that respect the rights and dignity of borrowers.
