Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has suffered an isolated tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, a serious injury that has already required surgical intervention. The Fiorentina defender is now set for a lengthy recovery period, likely ruling him out of action for several months.

The injury, sustained during his full Serie A debut against Como, marks another cruel setback for the 24-year-old, who had only recently returned from a previous knee issue. Lamptey landed awkwardly after a jump and was visibly in pain before being substituted early in the first half.

This news comes as a blow to Fiorentina as they will be missing the Ghanaian full-back for a lengthy part of the season as he only arrived in the summer. Also, Ghana’s national team will need to reshuffle its defensive options ahead of the October World Cup qualifiers.

Lamptey’s dynamism and versatility have made him a key figure for both club and country. His absence leaves a gap in Ghana’s right-back depth, especially with crucial fixtures looming.
