Caleb Ekuban strikes late to rescue point for Genoa against Como
16th September 2025
Ghana international Caleb Ansah Ekuban emerged as Genoa’s savior on Monday night, scoring a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer to earn his side a 1-1 draw away to Como on matchday three of the Serie A season.
The former Black Stars forward came off the bench in the 71st minute, replacing Icelandic midfielder Mikael Egill Ellertsson, and made his presence felt with a decisive late strike.
Nico Paz had given the hosts the lead as early as the 13th minute, finishing off a move assisted by fellow Spaniard Álvaro Morata. Como held on to their advantage for much of the game and looked set for their second win of the campaign.
However, Ekuban changed the narrative in added time, pouncing to score the equalizer and secure a vital away point for Genoa at the Marco Piccinini Stadium.
The 31-year-old has now scored one goal in two Serie A appearances this season and will be hoping to build on his bright start to the 2025/26 campaign.
