Calm restored in Nsuaem after mob attack on Police station
31st October 2025
The Western Central Regional Police Command has confirmed that calm has been restored to Nsuaem in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality after a violent mob attacked the local police station on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
According to a statement from ASP Beatrice Turkson on Thursday, the incident began when police detained 25-year-old Sulley Moses, who had been accused of attempting to lure two children, aged seven and five, to an unknown location.
Three police officers and four civilians were injured during the confrontation and treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital, while one civilian was referred to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further care.
Police reports indicate that about 15 men brought Moses to the station after allegedly catching him near Nivo Filling Station speaking to the children.
Following the children’s confirmation that he had forcibly held them, word of his arrest spread quickly, triggering outrage among residents.
A mob of roughly 500 people, some armed with stones and other weapons, stormed the police station demanding Moses’ release.
The crowd blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and hurled stones at officers, damaging two vehicles, parts of the station, and several impounded motorbikes.
Reinforcement teams, supported by military personnel, were deployed to restore order.
The suspect, Sulley Moses, has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Headquarters for further investigation, while all Nsuaem Police Station personnel have been relocated for safety.
The Western Central Regional Police Command condemned the attack, assuring the public that all perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted.
“The Command assures the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and brought to justice,” the statement concluded.
